As I work towards migrating to a new bullet journal in July, I’m looking back at some of my favorite bullet journal spreads in my current journal.

It’s that time of year again (for me). My Nuuna is almost full and it would be a stretch to try and get another month out of it.
So, it’s time for a new bullet journal. Which means a lot of migration, new organization techniques and decorative doodles. It means a choosing what notebook I’m going to use next. And lastly, it means putting my current bullet journal in a drawer with the other past journals.
It’s bittersweet.
And as a portion of my parting process, I like to look back and reflect on some of my favorite bullet journal spreads.
I do want to note ahead of time that this journal has been my least productive. There are a lot of changes to be made in my new journal.
This one is full of half-filled in pages, nearly empty weeklies, and penciled in pages that never got inked. I could blame it on life being busy or admit that fact that for a while, I had lost my passion.
Between having a business that revolves around creativity and sharing that creativity with the world and having the constant pressure to be new and innovative, my passion project had become a stressor in my life.
So, I hope that with this post you can see the human in these pages. You realize that the expectation of perfection, in your journal or any other aspect of your life is defeating.
I hope you see that I, too, struggle and have good and bad days. I mostly hope that you can relate on some level and that it will help you choose kindness and patience with yourself. Not just in your journal, but with everything you are doing.
Just do the best you can. No one can do more than that.

My Favorite Bullet Journal Weekly Spreads
Being on Instagram, I follow so many amazing bullet journal accounts. And I always admire the people who have their weekly spread down pat. They change the doodles and the headers regularly, but overall they have the same layout. Something that works well for them.
I, on the other hand, change my weekly spread like people change underwear. Okay, less frequently than that (I hope), but you get the idea.
Here are a few of my favorite bullet journal weekly spreads from the past six months.

While I never finished using this weekly spread, it remains on of my favorite from my current journal. The additional flap provides both a means of privacy and extra room for trackers, notes, etc.
Beneath the fold I included a space for goals, social media scheduling, a running task list, and upcoming events.
I’m planning to remake this style of weekly layout and upload the process video to my YouTube channel in the very near future.

On the opposite end of decorative, this weekly spread was probably one that allowed the most efficiency for me.
In the upper left-hand corner, I included my weekly goals. I include this in absolutely ever weekly spread I do because having those goals keeps me focused and driven. Below that is the running task list.
Curious about the running task list? You can check out how I make them, use them, and the benefits in this post.
In the long column to the right is my weekly fitness challenge, which during that week was to do 25 burpees every day.
The following two columns are my daily schedule and tasks broken down into work tasks and home tasks. Because I work from home, I’ve found it very beneficial to separate the two.
The last column is my daily workouts. I tracked what type of exercise I did along with the time I did it.
Then on the far right, I included weekly wins, struggles, notes, and a dinner menu. Personally, I think having a place to write down your small victories and be honest about your difficulties is therapeutic and motivational. You will definitely see more spreads like this in the future.
Supplies Used for this Spread

This weekly bullet journal spread is nothing too fancy. It has seven boxes for daily tasks and weather. Also, I included small boxes for weekly notes and goals.
Looking back it seems like I always include a notes section, but I don’t use it very often. However, I do like to write things that wouldn’t otherwise fit in my weekly there. That may include songs I heard and liked, packages coming, big tasks that need to be remembered, how I’m feeling, etc.
And the stand out on this page is the large schedule that takes up half of the right-hand page. My idea here (before we have to leave on an Emergency trip to Wyoming) was to keep more track of my time.
I created a color key with different tasks that take up a lot of time or things I want to spend more time doing. This is another element I would like to try to use again. Although, keeping track of each hour can be a bit monotonous and seem extreme.

My Favorite Monthly Bullet Journal Spreads

I think my favorite monthly spread from this journal has to be one of my simplest. But I love the larger calendar space as I have been using my monthly overview as somewhat of an editorial calendar.
The large notes section didn’t serve its purpose as well as I planned and it would probably be changed out for social media tracker, goals and notes sections in the future.

My next favorite monthly spread is probably May. For one, I loved the theme and color palette that I chose. But also, the layout was a nice mix between the larger calendar and having multiple trackers and boxes on the side.
Again, I didn’t end up using the notes section, but it something I just feel better having and not needing than needing and not having.

Habit Tracker
I change up my habit trackers almost monthly. So, I have had a lot of options to play around with and try out. I have found that having around 10ish habits is sufficient for me and doesn’t feel overwhelming.
Sadly, this habit tracker didn’t get used the whole month. I have been in a journal funk for a while now and typically give up on tracking and goal progress towards the end of the month.
This spread got used through the 18th and I would really love to recreate it and try a second time.
The flowers were each drawn by hand and it did take a long time to make this. But aesthetically speaking, I love it. As for efficiency, it took me a while to get the hang of which petal or leaf represented what. But after about a week it all started to flow and I could fill it out without looking at the key above.

Health and Fitness Tracker
This spread is from my current monthly setup and I already love it. Typically, I just include workout and yoga in my habit tracker, but I wanted to put all my fitness stuff together this month. It helps me see where I’m succeeding and where I need to do some more work and focus.
So, the top bar has three different workouts that I will be doing. set myself a goal to run 50 miles this month, which may or may not happen as my shin splints have flared up really bad lately. But, I also have other cardio options that I’ll be doing through Les Mills On Demand.
Below that I have included my meal planner for the month. I plan to fill this in the day previous so that I already have all of my meals planned out and there is no guessing. I’m doing intermittent fasting, so I skip breakfast and that is reflected in the meal planner.
Then, on the right page I have a weekly weight tracker and my tracker for 50 miles. I like that I have space to work in other challenges but also keep the main health and fitness elements all in one place.

I have quite a few favorite bullet journal spreads from this journal. And it will be a bit sad to put it away. But, I’m always so grateful for finding the bullet journal system and sticking to it.
And it makes me excited to have a fresh start and begin creating a journal that works for me based off spreads I have created and loved in the past.

I totally understand how something that was meant to be relaxing or fun can become a chore. I tend to use my creative hobbies to help my ocd but always end up gifting to people, seeing how much they love it then expectations build for the me to keep things different, just as pleasing and impossibly perfect!
Good luck with it all and take time for you.
I genuinely appreciate your help and work.
Kerry.
