Hi, I’m Erin. I’m a twenty-something stay-at-home mom, full-time blogger, fitness enthusiast, and doodle junkie. I started my first bullet journal in May 2015, using a spiral bound, ruled notebook I had in my many stashes of blank notebooks. I seriously never thought I would keep up on it, let alone make it one the top priorities of my day. I’ve never been able to use a regular planner or even the calendar on my phone for more than a week, although I’ve always had a bit of an obsession with pretty, girly planners.
I started The Petite Planner in Early 2017 because I love blogging and sharing my passions with other people. Some things are worth talking about, and some aren’t. But, I hope that this website will give others inspiration to start their creative journey no matter what their current abilities are. I am a firm believer that everyone has creative potential.
Alongside my passion for journaling and creativity, I believe I am deeply rooted in helping other women become the best version of their self. So, I launched a second blog, Erin Elissa, to follow this passion. If you’re looking for self-care, a boost in confidence, health and fitness advice, relationships tips, etc., visit me over there, too.
My journey started like many of yours. I saw these stunning journal pages on Pinterest and Instagram and knew I wanted to create my own version. I wanted to have my own style and really hone in on it. And at first, I succumbed to doubt and hopelessness. I tried drawing flowers. I tried my hand at brush lettering. It all seemed out of reach and impossible. But, I happen to be overly ambitious. It’s one of my best/worst qualities.
Even through the frustration, I continued to practice day in and day out. I studied drawings done by others and watched countless brush lettering videos. Within a few months, I was starting to see some serious improvement. I gained enough confidence to create an Instagram for my journal and was taken back by the support and encouragement of the community.
That’s when I knew I had something to share. I knew there were other people struggling with the same doubts and lack of confidence. There were people giving up on their journal because they felt inadequate. It didn’t seem fair.
The Bullet Journal System has helped me achieve some of my biggest and most ambitious goals. It’s been my go-to when I need a creative outlet. It’s my quiet space and the one place I can scream through creativity. I know how beneficial the system has been for me, and I want everyone to experience that same feeling of peace and content. But, I knew if people were struggling to create a journal they loved, they might give up. It might turn into just another abandoned notebook on a shelf.
For months, I brainstormed and carefully planned out a course to help people design the journal of their dreams with simple and doable lettering and doodle styles. The Rock Your Journal E-Course launched in Early 2018 and immediately gained traction, with over 300 people enrolling in the first month and a half. These wonderful people, who I’ve had the pleasure to get to know personally, are learning and improving so much. They share their progress and I can sense the confidence in their words and in their spreads when they share them in our Private Facebook Group.
This is my purpose. This is why I do what I do. To hear people tell me that they gained confidence and finally love their journal is what pushes me to make new content, be active in the community, and jump on Live video to do tutorials. It makes my heart smile…even more than a fancy cup of coffee. And because of this, I fully intend to make more courses that are affordable and enjoyable.
