ABOUT THE PETITE PLANNER
The Petite Planner was started by Erin in early 2017 because she loved journaling and loved blogging. It was the perfect mesh of interests. She started her first bullet journal in May 2015 using a spiral-bound, ruled notebook she had in her many stashes of blank notebooks! She never thought she would keep up with it, let alone make it a priority in her daily life!
She is a firm believer that everyone has creative potential.
I believe the same thing!
ABOUT MARIAH
In late 2019, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to take over The Petite Planner and begin sharing my love for journaling and planners! I’ve been doodling for as long as I can remember. I have vivid memories of illustrating 3×5 index cards with my favorite set of Pentel Color Pens and then selling them in our classroom shop in 5th grade.
(For the record, I’ve owned that set of pens multiple times in my life and they will always be some of my absolute favorites!)
I spent 8 years teaching elementary school from PK through 4th grade and it was a great creative outlet for me. But once I left the classroom in 2013, I found a new creative outlet in my parenting blog, The Simple Parent. But I continue to love planners, journaling, and scribbling my little doodles on everything I find. (And if I’m being honest, scribbling my name. I might have a slight obsession with doodling my name. Always have and probably always will!)
Many of us started our journey in the same way. We saw stunning journal pages on Pinterest and Instagram and knew we wanted to create my own version. We dream of having our own style and organizing our lives while expressing our creativity.
Then the frustration hits. You might find you hate doodling flowers but it’s all you seem to be able to do. Brush lettering feels like an exercise in extreme frustration. Suddenly, it all seems impossible.
The Bullet Journal System has helped so many of us achieve some of our biggest and most ambitious goals. It’s our go-to when we need a creative outlet. It’s our quiet space and the one place we can scream through creativity. But, I knew if people were struggling to create a journal they loved, they might give up. It might turn into just another abandoned notebook on a shelf. (Does anyone else have a collection of those?)
I’m so thankful that Erin designed our Rock Your Journal E-Course that launched in Early 2018. It immediately gained traction with over 300 people enrolling in the first month and a half. It continues to grow and we see more and more people finding success with their own style The course offers simple and doable lettering and doodle styles that we can all make into our own!
Exploring our love for journaling and planning is a continuing journey and one I’m excited to be on with everyone!
