It’s a new month and that means it’s time for another doodle challenge! This month I decided to make it really fun and use a magic things theme for the August Doodle Challenge. Think magic wands, potions, and fairy wings!
If you follow me on Instagram you’re probably familiar with Stop Drop Doodle Challenge. You can follow the challenge using the hashtag #StopDropDoodle but you don’t have to be on Instagram to doodle this month! You can get all of the doodle a day prompts below.

AUGUST DOODLE CHALLENGE
No matter what stage you’re at in your doodling journey, you can draw using these doodle prompts. You can use any materials you feel comfortable with. If you want to use pencil, feel free! I like to use fine point pens or markers because I’m a huge fan of color. I usually sketch my doodles first though!
You can even do your doodles digitally. I have an iPad and Apple pen that I sometimes use when I’m just messing around. The beauty of a doodle challenge is that you can make it work for you!
BULLET JOURNAL DOODLES
Many of us do our daily doodle in our bullet journals. You can draw out a grid like my example below from a past doodle challenge. Or you can do more of a freehand layout where you just fit the doodles in wherever they work on the page.

If you prefer, I create a doodle challenge printable page each month that you can use.
You can download the printable below. It has a box for every day of the month and the prompts are listed on the page so you don’t have to worry about keeping track of the daily prompts. Each day will be waiting for you!

DOODLE SUPPLIES
This month I’m using some of my absolute favorite markers. Pentel Color Pens have been my favorites since I was in elementary school. I can still remember my very first set and the girl who stole them from me in 5th grade. Have no fear, I got them back!
I’ve owned a few sets of them over the years and I love using them for coloring in my journal and in adult coloring books.

When I use them for doodling, I sketch first in pencil (which I do most of the time anyway) and then add color because they aren’t super fine point pens.
But I love the quality of color I get with them and you can often find them on sale on Amazon for a very affordable price! I also love that the markers are all numbered so you can match them with the color names!

This month I am also going to doodle with me Magicfly Dual Tip Brush Pen Markers because they of the dual ends! They’re also super affordable and come with so many colors. But I like to combine my Pentel Color Pens with them because then I have three different marker tips to use!
- 【Multiple Unique Colors】100 unique colors with a storage and portable bag, the most complete color pen set in the market, give you every color and hue you need for all your projects
- 【High Quality and Safe】 The ink is ACID-FREE & NON-TOXIC, unscented and Conforms to ASTM D-4236. Its safe for your health. You can rest assured use it
- 【Double-sided Dual Tip Design】 0.4 mm fine tip for outlining and detail, 1-2 mm brush tip for shading and coloring. No more struggling with hard, inflexible pens that take all the fun out of coloring
- 【Wide Application】 This Magicfly Dual Color Pens allows you to write in both thin and thick lines, providing great versatility and flexibility allowing you to create various styles, sketches and patterns with ease Easy coloring for drawing lines & details, painting, sketch, highlighter, maker, signing etc
- 【Arouse Interest】 Multi-color and dual tipped option is good to arouse your interest and painting creation. Perfect for coloring, art, illustrations, doodling, journaling, hand lettering and more

Love this! I ran across it while looking for other bullet journal ideas and I am hooked! This is definitely something I want to include in my bullet journal every month. For the record, I am not much of an artist, but saw this challenge and thought it would be the perfect thing to help me improve my doodling skills especially now that I will be teaching kindergarten — it seems in kindergarten there are also plenty of opportunities to doodle with and for the students! Thank you and this is absolutely wonderful.

Great idea! I saw it on Pinterest and I will join next months challenge. I hope it will help me to improve my drawing skills 🙂 I would love to see maybe some kind of fall or forest theme.
