I love summer-themed doodles and since I live in Texas, we’re in the thick of summer weather as we roll into July. I decided to use ocean and sea-themed doodles for the July doodle challenge!
If you follow me on Instagram you’re probably familiar with Oodles of Doodles Challenge. You can follow the challenge using the hashtag #OodlesofDoodles but you don’t have to be on Instagram to doodle this month! You can get all of the doodle a day prompts below.

JULY DOODLE CHALLENGE
No matter what stage you’re at in your doodling journey, you can draw using these doodle prompts. You can use any materials you feel comfortable with. If you want to use pencil, feel free! I like to use fine point pens or markers because I’m a huge fan of color. I usually sketch my doodles first though!
You can even do your doodles digitally. I have an iPad and Apple pen that I sometimes use when I’m just messing around. The beauty of a doodle challenge is that you can make it work for you!
DOODLE A DAY FREE PRINTABLE FOR JuLY
Many of us do our daily doodle in our bullet journals. You can draw out a grid like my example below from earlier in the year. Or you can do more of a freehand layout where you just fit the doodles in wherever they work on the page. I think this approach could be fun for the ocean themed doodle prompts I used this month.
If you prefer, I create a doodle challenge printable page each month.
You can download the printable below. It has a box for every day of the month and the prompt is in the box so you don’t even have to worry about keeping track of the daily prompts. Each day will be waiting for you!

As I mentioned before, you can use any doodling supplies you like! You can try different ones each month.
This month I’m using planning to use my Staedtler Triplus Fineliner Pens. They’re usually pretty affordable and I like that they have all the basic colors I need, including a black pen for outlining.
If you’re a fan of using printables in your journal or you just want to have separate pages for your doodles, I’ve created a FREE printable page for the July Oodles of Doodles challenge! It’s a great way to have all of the prompts at your fingertips this month!
