January Doodle Challenge
I started doodling as a way to add color and cute factor to my decoration in my planner but it’s now become a great way to make sure I’m taking a few minutes to be creative, no matter how busy my day happens to be!
You can use these doodles anywhere you’d like but they are great for your bullet journal (bujo). I also find myself doodling some of them in the margins of paper.
Trust me, everyone is a doodler at heart! We don’t have to be professional artists to be creative and have fun.
Doodle Prompts
This month, I went with the theme of landscapes (or some variation on them). You can be as creative as you want with these January drawing ideas! Just sketch something from one of them or get as detailed as you’d like!
Just start with this list and do a daily doodle, I think you’ll find yourself hooked in no time! I hope you find that these prompts are an inspiration for you!

Printable Doodle Calendar
Each month, I offer a free printable doodle calendar. You can use it as one sheet printed on 8.5″ x 11″ paper. But it also has cut lines if you want to trim it down to go in your notebook or planner.
If you need a home printer, I recommend the HP DeskJet 2755e. It has worked well for us at our house and is very affordable!
Click the link below to open a window where you can save or print your doodle prompt calendar. Then you can trim it if desired or just use it to doodle all month long!
Doodle Supplies
If you’re looking to purchase some doodling supplies, here are some of my recommendations based on what I’ve been using most often these days!
- Pencils – I keep it pretty basic and use BIC Mechanical Pencils. I always seem to have them around the house!
- Pens – When it comes to black pens, I use either Paper Mate Flair or Pigma Micron Pens (these are great if you want pens with different tips).
- Markers – My go-to fine-tip marker set is the Pentel Color Pens set. But it can bleed if your paper is thin, so I recommend testing them out if you’re going to use them in our journal or planner.
- Colored Pencils – I don’t use colored pencils that often, but when I do I use this set of Crayola Colored Pencils my kids had and I like them a lot! They have a great range of colors.
- Erasers – Pentel Hi-Polymer Erasers are my absolute favorite! I probably shouldn’t like an eraser this much but I do!
You can doodle with whatever you like! I usually use a pencil to sketch my plans out and then go over it with markers or black pen. But this is all about being creative on your own so go with what you’re comfortable doing!
